In a small hall in Philadelphia, a group of men called the Second Continental Congress signed a document that would change the course of history. Never before has a group of colonies come together and call out to the world their separation from a mother country, let alone the powerful British Empire. This was the beginning of a new era, a new nation. One that believed in “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. That any man could climb up and achieve the dream of success. Though the term “American Dream” was not coined until 1931, these men of 1776 were paving the road for men and women to climb that ladder of success and freedom.
